The Anthemist

The Athemist is a podcast equal parts irreverent and nerdy. In each episode, they do a deep dive into the musical and historical construction of a different country’s national anthem, using the evolution of the music as a lens through which to view its history.

We took inspiration from vintage advertising and golden age comic books to create an identity that was cheeky, but felt like it was rooted in some historical context, even subconsciously. In addition to an identity and web presence, we obviously put a lot of thought into the podcast graphics and icon itself, working to create a set of marks that would read well in small sizes and convey the tongue-in-cheek vibe of the pod for new listeners right off the bat.
